IDD Aerospace
Corporation Displays Innovations At Paris

Paris (June 19, 1997) -- IDD Aerospace Corporation, part of Groupe Intertechnique,
announced two innovations at their exhibit at the Paris Air Show.
The first is a new way of illuminating flight deck displays and keyboards
that is a direct replacement for incandescent lamps in Aviation, IPL or
Unfiltered White lighting. This breakthrough is based on the latest advancements
in single-chip white LED technology. Color performance that replicates standard
incandescent lighting has been achieved, according to company representatives.
Performance ranges from 1,900 degrees K to 6,800 degrees K and provides
a full range of dimming without the color shift associated with incandescent
lighting. This technology is also the ideal solution for highly efficient
backlighting of Segmented LCD Displays. Unlike incandescent lighting, LED
illumination provides greatly improved life, low power consumption and cool
touch temperatures. The company says its products featuring LED illumination
are available for immediate delivery without cost penalties.
The second innovation shown at the IDD Paris display is a new low-cost
sealed-membrane switch technology, providing the economic benefits of elastomeric
keypads while retaining the rigid-key
tactile feel and reliability associated with traditional keypads.
Priced up to 40% less than traditional hard-key assemblies, the sealed
membrane technology offers users the same high quality and performance standards.
This new switch technology, based on IDD's "Technovation" discipline,
provides a fully liquid-sealed unit with the same reliability, function
and appearance as the thousands of IDD pushbutton displays and keyboards
flying today. These new applications are virtually identical in form, fit
and function to IDD's highly-acclaimed integrated switch products.
