Rolls-Royce Records $700 Million, Courtesy of Gulfstream

EMBRAER

Paris (June 18, 1997) -- Rolls-Royce has enjoyed a plethora of orders during the 1997 Paris Air Show. And the show hasn't even ended yet.

To add to the list of orders already recorded, Rolls-Royce Tay engines, valued at $700 million have been ordered to power Gulfstream IV-SP corporate jets. With more than 600 Tay engines already delivered to Gulfstream, this latest order brings the total number of orders for Rolls-Royce engines for all Gulfstream aircraft well past the 2500 mark.

In making the announcement of the latest order John Cheffins, Managing Director of Roll-Royce Commercial Aero Engines said, "This order secures a long term future for the Tay and GIV." Deliveries are scheduled through the year 2003.

Rolls claims the benefits of Tay engines in exeutive jets and commuter aircraft are low cost of operation as well as high reliability. The Tay engine was also selected for the Fokker 28 re-engineering program. In addition to the GIV, the Tay powers the Fokker 700 and the re-engined Boeing 727-100.

The Gulfstream V is powered by BMW Rolls-Royce engines.
