NBAA: Rockwell Collins Selected for New Gulfstream G150

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 10, 2002 -- Rockwell Collins has been selected to provide its Collins Pro Line 21 integrated avionics system for the new Gulfstream G150 aircraft. The announcement was made today at the National Business Aviation Association conference and exhibition.

"Rockwell Collins legacy of providing the avionics systems for the G100 and G200 and the strength of the Pro Line 21 system positioned us for this selection," said Denny Helgeson, vice president and general manager Rockwell Collins Business and Regional Systems. "The new G150 will provide operators with the most advanced integrated information management to enhance system performance and reduce pilot workload."

The flight deck layout for the new aircraft includes four 12 x 10-inch liquid crystal flight displays. The system integrates a number of advanced technologies through the addition of an optional onboard file server. The new Collins File Server Unit (FSU) integrates with the Pro Line 21 system's high-performance partitioned processing capabilities, Ethernet interfaces and active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) flight displays bringing enhanced maps, optional electronic charts and graphical weather to the flight deck of this new aircraft. Situational awareness is further enhanced in the avionics suite through options such as 3-D Flight Management System flight plan map presentation.

Additional features:

  • Collins Pro Line 21 CNS communication, navigation and surveillance sensors support the transition from voice to data communications and enable operators to meet new regulatory and operating requirements.
  • Collins FMS-6000 Flight Management System features performance management with integrated Vspeeds for improved efficiency and reduced pilot workload.
  • The Collins AHS-3000 Attitude Heading Reference System, featuring a digital quartz sensor, significantly improves reliability while reducing volume, weight, power consumption and cost of ownership
  • An optional checklist feature provides enhanced information management to reduce pilot workload
  • Dual-channel Automatic Flight Control System.
Certification and first customer delivery of the G150 is expected by mid-2005.
