New Aircraft Debut at Farnborough European aerospace companies are expected to dominate this week's Farnborough Air Show with the latest aircraft. Flight demonstrations of "next generation" fighter aircraft will take center stage at Farnborough this summer. Among the new aircraft is the four-nation Eurofighter 2000, French Rafale and Swedish Gripen. The DA-1 or Eurofighter 2000 developed by Daimler-Benz Aerospace is equipped with an advanced flight control system. A two seat version is expected for static display. The U.K., Germany, Italy and Spain are preparing to begin production this year. Although U.S. companies will not have new aircraft at Farnborough, some American companies will be promoting new design concepts. Boeing, Lockheed Martin and the McDonnell Douglas, Northrop Grumman and British Aerospace team are all battling for a $2 billion contract in a contest to develop the U.S. Joint Strike Fighter (JFS).
