Britain Commits to Eurofighter Farnborough, September 3 -- British Defence Secretary Michael Portillo announced yesterday that the government has made a firm commitment to the Eurofighter 2000 program. This makes Britain the first European government to declare support for the four-nation fighter. All four partner nations are expected to follow suit eventually, with signed Memoranda of Understanding expected by sometime in early 1997.
