Hainan Airlines buys 7 Fairchild planes
China's Hainan Airlines Co. Ltd. plans to buy seven 18-seat Metro-23 passenger jets from Fairchild Dornier Corp. The jets are worth $30 million in total. The plan is to have the seven aircraft delivered by the end of the year. Although details of the deal were not disclosed, reports indicate the planes would be used on short routes between Haikou and other nearby cities.

 

General Dynamics and Litton merger just a rumor
They were just rumors? General Dynamics Corp. claims it is not merging with Litton Industries Inc. Last week, General Dynamics issued a statement after US. Senator Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) asked General Dynamics chief executive Nicholas Chabraja to clarify its intention following speculation of a merger. Details of the announcement or the company's intentions were not disclosed. Interestingly enough, Litton shares were up 13/16 to 53-3/8 and General Dynamics' shares rose 5/16 to 81-1/16 in the New York Stock Exchange early that afternoon.
