GE Engine Services Picks Up Engine Service Contract
Evergreen International Airlines, a U.S. based air freight transport provider, has signed a 5-year, $100 million contract with GE Engine Services to provide maintenance and overhaul for the JT9 engines that power Evergreen's 747-100 and -200 aircraft.
According to the GE announcement, the engine work for this time and material maintenance contract will be done at GE's Nantgarw, Wales, overhaul and repair facility.
Allied Signal In Development Of New Engine
A new aircraft engine family called the AS900 series has been under development at Allied Signal, with the first engine configuration destined for a new business aircraft likely to be unveiled next month. The AS900 will initially come out in a version rated at 7,500 pounds thrust however the engine family is expected to offer variants from 4,000 pounds thrust to up to 9,000 pounds thrust. Other aircraft recipients of the new engine family are updates to the Avro RJ series of regional jets.
New JV To Work On Nacelles
Hurel-Dubois and Aermacchi announced they have formed a new joint venture company to produce engine nacelles. The new JV will provide nacelle assemblies for the GE engines on the new Fairchild Dornier 728JET series of regional jets.
