NASA named Stephen Jurczyk the new Deputy Center Director for the agency’s Langley Research Center, headquartered in Hampton, Virginia. Previously Jurczyk was Langley’s Director of Research and Technology Directorate.
Scott Smith was hired as chief operating officer for Digital Globe. Smith brings over 24 years of aerospace and commercial remote sensing industry experience to the Longmont, Colorado-based company.
GenCorp, Inc. has added R. Leon Blackburn as vice president, controller at the Sacramento, California-based company. Blackburn will report to the senior vice president and chief financial officer within the technology-based manufacturer of aerospace and defense products and systems.
Lockheed Martin Corporation named Mary Margaret VanDeWeghe as its senior vice president of finance, reporting directly to the executive vice president and chief financial officer. VanDeWeghe brings extensive financial background to her new position located in Bethesda, Maryland.
S. Michael Scheeringa has been appointed chief executive officers at Raytheon Company’s Flight Options, the company’s fractional ownership entity. Prior to joining Flight Options, Sheeringa served as US Airways’ vice president, Express Division.
The Aerospace Industries Association Governing Board appointed Air Industries Machining Corp. president Peter Rettaliata to its Executive Committee. Mr. Rettaliata also serves as president & CEO of Ashlin Development Corporation.
World Air Holdings, Inc., parent company of World Airways and North American Airlines, has named Jeff Wehrenberg as chief operating officer of North American Airlines. Wehrenberg has been working with World Airways in a consulting capacity since August 2005.

Board of Governors has elected Ronald Sugar of Northrop Grumman
Corporation to serve as its chairman for 2006. Sugar is chief
executive officer for Northrop Grumman and succeeds Robert Johnson
of Honeywell Aerospace.
Mark Shields joined DFI
Corporate Services as vice president. Mr. Shields is
responsible for directing management consulting assignments in
the defense, transportations and logistics sectors.
United Technologies
Corp. named Bill Brown president of its Fire & Security
business. The Hartford, Connecticut-based company provides high
technology products and support services to the building systems
and aerospace industries.
Veteran astronaut and space
industry executive Richard O. Covey has been named chief operating
officer for United Space Alliance. Previously,
Covey served as President of Boeing Service Company, based in
Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Kevin Smedly has been named
the UNITE Alliance representative for Aurora Flight Sciences.
The UAV National Industry Team (UNITE) is a coalition of leading
Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) companies.
Engineered Support
Systems, Inc., named Mitchell B. Rambler president, Support
Services Group. Rambler will oversee the combined operations of
the group’s four operating units – ESSIbuy.com, Radian,
Spacelink, and TAMSCO.
Goodrich Corporation
named Steve Chalmers vice president, general manager, Lighting
Systems. Chalmers assumes his new role with over 18 years of experience
working for Goodrich’s Landing Gear division.
The Research, Development,
Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Group selected Travis Slocumb
as senior vice president for business development at Science
Applications International Corporation (SAIC). For the
past year Slocumb has served as chief technology officer for the
RDT&E Group.
Air Methods Corporation
named Mike Allen senior vice president of the Company’s
Air Medical Services Division. Allen has served in a number of
management and pilot capacities since joining the Denver, Colorado-based
company in 1992.
Northrop Grumman Corporation
has elected James L. Cameron, corporate vice president and president
of the Technical Services sector, to its Board of Directors. The
Technical Services sector was newly created in 2006 to leverage
existing business strengths and synergies in the rapidly expanding
logistics support, sustainment and technical services markets.
Raytheon
appointed Courtney B. Banks to serve as vice president of Homeland
Security for the company’s Intelligent and Information Systems
(IIS) business. In her new position Banks will lead Raytheon’s
Strategic Business Area of Homeland Security in the Washington
office in Arlington, Virginia.

James A. Robinson has been appointed to the position of President
of Z Microsystems. Mr. Robinson will be responsible
for directing San Diego, California-based Z Microsystems
as the Company responds to program level opportunities in the
military’s transformation to the digital battlefield.
Aviall,
Inc. has promoted Louis F. Koch to Vice President-Human
Resources and Joseph Y. Lacik to Senior Vice President Information
Services for its Aviall Services Unit. Aviall is an independent
provider of new aviation parts and inventory-related services,
located in Dallas, Texas.
Susan J. Mertes has joined
AIA as director of Aviation Infrastructure, a
new position focusing on improvements to the civil air transportation
system. Mertes will be responsible for monitoring and identifying
emerging issues and trends related to aviation infrastructure
and federally funded advanced systems research and development
at the Arlington, Virginia-based company.
Minneapolis, Minnesota-based
Alliant Techsystems elected Douglas L. Maine
as an independent director to the company’s board of directors.
Maine was also appointed to serve on the board’s Audit Committee
and Finance Committee.
TIMCO Aviation Services,
Inc named Ron Utecht President and Chief Operation Officer. Prior
to his appointment at the Greensboro, North Carolina-based company
Utecht was employed by United Airlines for 39 years, holding various
management positions.
The Allied Defense
Group, Inc named David B. Collins President of SeaSpace
Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Elecsys Corporation
appointed Mike Reed as the new President of the Company’s
NTG, Inc., subsidiary. Prior to joining Elecsys, Reed was Vice
President of Marketing for Ideal Aerosmith, Inc., a provider of
inertial guidance test equipment and aerospace engineering services.
Raytheon
elected Admiral Vern Clark, U.S. Navy (Ret.) to its Board of Directors.
Clark joins the Raytheon board following 37 years of distinguished
military service.
The Boeing Company
has elected Kenneth M. Duberstein lead director, replacing Lew
Platt who passed away earlier this year. Duberstein has served
on the Boeing board since 1997.
